Last Friday I was standing on North Sydney station with an old friend who is a Manly fan and he was supremely confident Manly would thrash the Titans.
I didn’t share his optimism as I’m a Raiders fan and I saw up close and personal what they did to the Raiders las week and their valint effort angainst an emotional Sharks side in the opening round.
The Titans held on for a gritty 16-14 win against Manly after holding a commanding 14-0 lead but this is a side who have self belief.
It was a great way for Ashley Harrison to celebrate his 250th first grade game althoug being knocked out during the match, he probably won’t remember much of the match.
The Titans forward pack is close to the best in the NRL but it’s the halves pairing of Aiden Sezer and Albert Kelly that is capitalising on the good work of the Titans forward pack.
I’ll put my hand up to say I got it wrong when writing the season preview for the Titans and although it’s only week three, barring a massive injury toll the Titans are on their way to the top eight and finals footy after a few disappointing seasons.
There are no free lunches in the NRL (except when you play the Raiders) so let this be a warning to the likes of cocky Manly fans. Underestimate the Titans at your peril and you’ll be the one licking your wounds.
