State of Origin Team

It’s never too early to start picking the State of Origin Team….

I have been known to go off a bit early in the past, but given that we’ve already had three rounds of the NRL and I can’t wait for Origin to begin, I figured it’s never too early to start picking the State of Origin team. Furthermore, I’m limiting selection to just the NSW team because, quite frankly, who cares about those banana benders north of the border? In any case, their team just about picks itself. Barring injuries, QLD won’t change their team. Enough said about them, here’s the first weekly installment of my Origin team.

I welcome your feedback and opinion. Hopefully, together, we can come up with a team that will help Lozza finally bring back the shield to where it belongs. Ok, let’s get the ball rolling…

Fullback:         Brett Stewart

Left Wing:      Brett Morris

Left Centre:    Michael Jennings

Right Centre:  Josh Morris

Right Wing:    Jarryd Hayne

Five-eighth:     James Maloney

Halfback:        Mitchell Pearce

Lock:               Paul Gallen (C)

Left 2nd Row:  Greg Bird

Right 2nd Row: Luke Lewis

Prop:                James Tamou

Hooker:           Robbie Farah

Prop:                Tim Grant

1St Reserve:     Josh Reynolds

2nd Reserve:     Anthony Watmough

3rd Reserve:     Ryan James

4th Reserve:     Aaron Woods

Comments: Fullback was difficult, but not many putting their hand up. QLD can pick 5 fullbacks that would be better than ours. I’ve gone for the Roosters halves combination (God help us). Maloney is in form, has a great kicking game and plays direct. The other bolter is Ryan James, who I believe will be a permanent fixture in Origin for years to come. As will Aaron Woods. The rest of the team picks itself. I can’t see too many changes from last year. Just a few enhancements. Your thoughts?……

  1. Maloney and Pearce? Won’t happen. Reynolds, Reynolds and Carney are all in front of those two. Ryan James is not ready. Ryan Hinchcliffe will be a bolter and Ryan Hoffman will start for sure.
