I’m predicting Warriors coach Andrew McFadden will be out of a job this time next week if the Knights topple the Warriors and give them a 0-4 start to the season.
Yes, it’s still early days in the NRL season but a winless start after four games with an improved roster is simply unacceptable to all Warriors fans.
McFadden is now on a hiding to nothing with the Warriors and there is speculation the team hasn’t bought into his philosophy and are not giving 100%.
There is also the questionable selection policy of using Shaun Johnson as a five eighth. It simply isn’t working and it’s affecting Johnson’s ability to be the playmaker, when he is asked to be a ball distributor as opposed to a ball runner, where he is at his most lethal.
Interesting times across the ditch. If McFadden is shown the door, who replaces him as coaching the Warriors is the games biggest poison chalice. Steve Kearney has been mentioned as has previous coach Ivan Cleary but both would know the type of culture at the Warriors and may view it as a gig too far and decline the offer.
The Warriors certainly have the team to be a premiership threat, but as usual, something isn’t right in the city of sails. It would be nice to see them fly the spinnaker for a change…
